Mexican cruises sail from Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego delivering visitors to historical cities known for beaches, fishing and golf. Cost varies by cruise line, trip length and choice of stateroom[1] .

Typical costs:

  • Three- or four-day Mexico cruises to Baja California cost about $230-$330 per person, double occupancy, depending on cruise line, trip length and sailing date for an interior stateroom. Ocean view cabins are priced $280-$650, rooms with balconies $370-$540 and suites $500-$960. Cruises around the holiday season are typically much higher than spring or fall, excluding spring break. Carnival[2] offers a four-day cruise in an interior room from $240-$570 per person, double occupancy, depending on sailing date.
  • Seven- or eight-day trips through the Mexican Riviera are priced about $350-$1,100 per person, double occupancy for an interior cabin, depending on trip length, cruise line and sailing date. Upgrade cabins for a cost of $470-$1,300 for an ocean view, $630-$2,900 for a balcony or $1,030-$3,400 for a suite. Disney Cruise Line[3] offers a seven-day adventure to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas for about $890 per person in an interior cabin.
  • Mexican Riviera cruises spanning 10-12 nights in an interior room cost about $1,000-$1,400, per person, double occupancy, depending on trip length, cruise line and sailing date. Ocean-view cabins are about $1,150-$1,400, balconies $1,550-$1,650 and suites $1,950-$4,700. For example, Princess Cruises[4] offers a 10-day trip in an interior room for about $1,000, per person, double occupancy, that includes stops in San Diego, Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, while Holland America[5] operates a 12-day cruise starting at $1,300 per person.

  • Tipping for room and dining stewards may often be prepaid at ticketing for a slight discount. Some cruise lines automatically bill the passenger's account for a set tip amount, either daily or on the last day of the cruise. Otherwise, average tips are $10-$12 per person, per day. Envelopes will be left in the cabin on the last evening of the cruise or may be picked up at the purser's desk.
